Speakers

Louisa Clarke

Director, One Feather Coaching

Louisa, a distinguished leader with a remarkable career spanning both military and civilian sectors, brings a decade of dedicated service in the Royal Air Force and over seventeen years as a Managing Director in Facilities Management (FM). She now serves as an Executive and Leadership Coach.

Her remarkable achievements include being honoured as the Ex-Forces Business Leader of the Year and recognised as one of the Top 50 Workplace Leaders. Notably, she was a finalist in the English Veteran Awards, Role Model of the Year category, further underlining her unwavering commitment to veterans' causes.

Louisa proudly serves as a valuable member of the prestigious Veterans Advisory Board to the Government, where she actively shapes policies and initiatives that support veterans. Her commitment to making a positive impact extends beyond her professional life, evident in her volunteer work as an Ambassador and Non-Executive Director (NED).

Rich Garland

Operational Account Director, Mitie

Rich retired as a Late Entry Major from the Royal Engineers in 2016 after almost 30 years service; starting that journey as an Apprentice Mechanical Engineer.

Having operated globally in multiple sectors, in senior positions since transitioning, he now works as an operational Account Director for Mitie in the Defence Sector. With a passion for developing people and teams, he has maintained a steadfast interest in encouraging and supporting his team to maximise the opportunities that a career in FM offers. Driven by a personal goal to make FM a subject of choice rather than a career that a lot of people stumble upon, he proactively engages with the full career cycle from the point at which young talented students start thinking about what they want to do when they enter the workplace.

Having previously volunteered with IWFM/BIFM in the South West Region, now being able to directly engage with veterans and service leavers via the ‘Veterans in FM’ Committee will bring an opportunity to actively engage in the transition process and hopefully make available the benefits of his own experiences.
