Armed forces veterans possess a wealth of skills, determination and leadership abilities that are invaluable in workplace and facilities management.

The NEBOSH National General Certificate is recognised as the benchmark qualification in health and safety and is ideal for veterans to develop knowledge, that is key to building the foundation of a successful WFM career. Workplace and facilities managers must understand health and safety compliance requirements, risk management techniques and how to manage general workplace safety issues.

IWFM Academy offer just that, but with the extra benefit of all learning being delivered in a WFM context, this means you will be a step ahead of others looking for a career in workplace and facilities management by completing a NEBOSH qualification with us.

The NEBOSH General Certificate is delivered in conjunction with International Workplace.

How much will it cost?

Member: £1195+VAT
Non-Member: £1295+VAT

What will you learn?

Upon successful completion, you will understand:

  • How to effectively manage health and safety
  • How to identify and control common workplace hazards
  • How to monitor health and safety performance
  • The UK’s key legal requirements

As the NEBOSH General Certificate is a formally recognised qualification, you will also gain a formal level 3 qualification.

How long is it for?

The NEBOSH General Certificate for veterans is offered as a 2-week course starting on Monday 9th December and finishing on Thursday 19th December 2024.

  • Week 1 – Dec 9-12
  • Week 2 – Dec 16-19
  • Revision day – Jan 7
  • Exam – Jan 8

How will I be assessed?

The NEBOSH General Certificate assesses both your health and safety knowledge and practical application.

  • Learners complete an open book exam usually referred to as the NG1 exam. This is normally on a set date, and you will receive more information about this when you book onto the training.
  • You will then be given a date to complete and submit a practical risk assessment based on a workplace environment to your Trainer.

Delivery method

The qualification is delivered as live virtual training via Teams so you can learn from a location that suits you. All of our Trainers are experienced in delivery via Teams and will ensure that the training is engaging and relevant to your learning requirements.

To be to be part of our virtual training session, you will need:

  • Access to a computer (PC or Mac) which has a microphone and web cam included (or an additional microphone and web cam installed and set up)
  • A strong internet connection
  • A pair of headphones
  • A quiet area of your home where you can concentrate, uninterrupted
