Our membership grades
Discover which membership grade reflects your specific experience and accomplishments. Understand the routes available and required competencies that are necessary to be a competent workplace and facilities management practitioner at all career levels, defined by our Professional Standards which underpin the profession.
- Fellow (FIWFM) grade is our most prestigious grade. It's a true mark of distinction and an aspiration for all, and the designation of fellowship is now more than ever a demonstration of impact on the profession.
- Certified (CIWFM) grade enables you to demonstrate your alignment with the standard setter within the industry, establishing credibility in your career as you seek employment opportunities or present credentials to potential clients. Experiential Route to CIWFM offers an alternative pathway to Certified status.
- Member (MIWFM) grade not only mirrors the trajectory of your career but also serves as a testament to employers, colleagues and recruiters about your wealth of knowledge and experience, showcasing the impactful contributions you can bring to any organisation.
- Associate (AIWFM) is the perfect way to start your professional grade membership journey. If you have at least two years' experience in the profession or one years' experience and a related qualification at Level 2 or above, you may be eligible.
- Affiliate is our entry-level grade for individuals with an interest in or are already working in workplace and facilities management. No previous experience in the profession is required.
What is the application process?
> Step 1: Choose your grade

Base this on which grade reflects your experience and skills. If you need help with this you can use our free membership assessment or book in time with a member of the team.
> Step 2: Get your application ready

When applying for a professional grade you will need to supply supporting documentation, including CV, job description, and any qualification certificates.
> Step 3: Your application is assessed

Your application is sent to our assessors for review, this can take up to 14 working days. You can utilise your membership while this is taking place, you just cant use any post nominals.
> Step 4: Application approval

You will receive your membership certificate by email, and now add your post nominals to progress your career by displaying them on your business card, LinkedIn profile, email signature etc.

How do I pay?
We accept payment by credit/debit card and invoice. If you choose to pay by Annual Direct Debit you can benefit from a 5% discount on your membership subscription fee, alternatively you can spread the cost of your subscription by selecting Monthly Direct Debit (note there is a 5% premium for this payment method).
