Member (MIWFM) grade not only mirrors the trajectory of your career but also serves as a testament to employers, colleagues and recruiters about your wealth of knowledge and experience, showcasing the impactful contributions you can bring to any organisation. There are two routes you can take to becoming a Member:
- Route A: At least two years' managerial experience in workplace and / or facilities and an IWFM Diploma at Level 4 or above OR a facilities or related qualification at Level 4 or above
- Route B: At least five years workplace and / or facilities experience and at least three years' managerial experience
Membership fees:
- Assessment (a one off payment when you join or upgrade to this level via a non-IWFM qualification or via Route B): £99
- Member subscription fee: £247

Knowledge and competencies
Applicants must demonstrate their knowledge, skills and experience of the following competencies within your supporting documentation.
The Business Organisation: How to develop and implement:
- FM Strategy and articulate its importance on the FM function and the wider organisation
- business plans and measure their performance
Risk Management: The principles and application of risk management, analysis and reduction and how this is integral to business continuity and strategy.
Management Principles: The principle, practices and legal requirements of People Management, within an FM context.
Support Services Operations: The full range of FM support services and methods to manage and monitor the delivery of those services.
Legislation Codes, Directive and Regulatory Issues: Health and Safety in the workplace and the Facilities Managers role and responsibilities in monitoring and reviewing safety systems.
Applicants must also demonstrate their knowledge, skills and experience in a range of the following areas or in-depth knowledge in one or more:
- Personal Leadership: Relationships with Suppliers and Specialists
- Quality Management: Property and Building Services Maintenance
- Customer Service: Sustainability and Environmental Issues
- Information and Knowledge Management: Energy and Utility Management
- Project Management: Procurement, Contracts and Contract Management
- Space Management

Supporting materials
To be assessed for Member grade membership via a non-IWFM qualification or via Route B, with your application, you are required to supply a copy of your CV (if you need help with your CV please use our template as a guide), your most recent job description, an MIWFM declaration form and if applicable an original or certified copy of your qualification certificate
