In June, IWFM launched the Strategic Leaders Forum (SLF), which evolved out of the International Special Interest Group (ISIG), utilising the insight and abilities of strategic leaders to drive positive change in workplace and facilities management (WFM).

As the SLF’s incoming Chair, I had the pleasure of welcoming members to the first SLF hybrid AGM, kindly hosted by AtkinRealis with refreshment sponsorship from CBRE.

The formal proceedings began with my ratification. After that, huge thanks went to Steve Gladwin FIWFM for leading the transformation from the ISIG to the SLF. Steve remains a member of the SLF as trusted advisor.

We welcomed Tim Stanbridge CIWFM as joint Vice Chair with Sean Gibbons FIWFM, while we said goodbye to Joanna Lloyd-Davies FIWFM after years of dedication and tireless support of the ISIG and SLF. Members past and present recognise Joanna’s significant contribution with huge appreciation.

Attendees heard from historic ISIG supporters, plus guest speakers Tim Oldman and Allison English from Aeto Strategy. Tim (founder of Leesman) and Allison outlined how they help organisations make their workplace fit for now and the future by helping organisations ask the right questions.

Political consultant and analyst David Massingham shared a wealth of knowledge from his time working with the Cabinet Office through to social housing, including an analysis of recent government changes in the UK and USA, what the future may bring and the implications for the economy and our sector.

The evening was enjoyed by all, with a great many questions and some fascinating conversation held during an animated networking session for those who attended in person. If you missed the evening, access a recording of it here.

As a reminder, anybody who presently holds CIWFM, FIWFM or (H)FIWFM is eligible to join the SLF; simply log in to your IWFM account and update your contact preferences by selecting to opt into the Strategic Leaders Forum.
