Overview
We’re looking to the near future in this latest edition of Facilitate.
For one thing there’s a shift in the scale and necessity for new data centres as the growth in artificial intelligence introduces a new, more localised demand for facilities.
Then there’s the government’s project to hugely increase the size of local authorities in England. With an associated reduction in the number of smaller authorities, this could have a significant impact on how services are procured and managed.
In both features, we ask - what could this all mean for WFM provision?
We also look at the way in which the vocabulary of FM has evolved since its inception in the 1980s and consider whether the way the sector is described has helped to cement its broader acceptance as a value provider within organisations.
All this as well as conscious unbossing, the Information Management Initiative, an insider’s perspective on the reasons behind the outsourced FM mergers and acquisition boom, behind the job with Charlotte Metcalf and Martin French, Grenfell Phase 2, apprenticeships and more besides.
