Introducing IWFM Networks: bringing members together

Following the IWFM AGM 2023, we are pleased to announce the expansion of our community groups to include 'Networks'.
Unlike Special Interest Groups (SIGs), which discuss and create insights for defined topics against the IWFM Professional Standards, and Regions, which engage members in areas of the UK and beyond, Networks focus on members who share common characteristics, such as gender or career entry routes.
The volunteers within these Networks will not only support the career development of a particular member cohort, but also play an ambassadorial role with members and wider stakeholders, provide challenge and insight on specific issues relevant to the Network, and support public policy agendas where IWFM may need to respond.
Why we have created Networks
We've created Networks to give focus to specific subsets of our membership community to enable IWFM to understand and act upon the barriers that may exist when entering and progressing within the profession, and to make visible the opportunities available.
This change forms an integral part of our new member-informed three-year strategy to provide extra value to members on our journey to ‘Shape the Institute together’.
As a result of this change, IWFM Women in FM and IWFM Rising FMs will transition from SIGs to Networks in the coming weeks. This change acknowledges their role in bringing together community members and providing strategic and technical insights relevant to members' career development, while contributing to the advancement of the workplace and facilities management profession.
