Introducing the new IWFM Veterans in FM Network
by Louisa Clarke, IWFM Veterans in FM Network Chair

I am thrilled to announce the official launch of the IWFM Veterans in FM Network, a significant initiative within the IWFM community connecting armed forces veterans, reservists, service leavers, and supporters in the workplace and facilities management profession.

The new committee has now been formed and we are committed to shaping the Network’s direction, providing a dedicated career route for service leavers, and fostering an armed forces family where veterans can come together, network, and support each other in developing their careers.

Our collective mission is making FM a career of choice. Together, we aim to move away from the notion of "falling into FM" and make workplace and facilities management a career of choice for those leaving the armed forces, as many already have the required skills and competence to join and develop their careers within this critical profession.

Connect with us and stay updated

If you are an IWFM member and an armed forces veteran, reservist, service leaver, or supporter, connect with us to stay updated on our progress and upcoming events by updating your contact preferences (you’ll need to log into your IWFM account first), then ensure the 'CPD-Events' and 'Veterans in FM Network' boxes are selected.  Once updated, you’ll then be able to engage with us and fellow members in our Community groups forum.

If you aren’t a member yet, but would like to find out how IWFM membership could benefit you, please contact our Member and Customer Engagement team on +44 1279 712 650 or email [email protected]

Don’t forget to follow us on LinkedIn and X (formerly Twitter) for the latest discussions, updates and events.

Celebrating our commitment: IWFM and the Armed Forces Covenant

In alignment with its dedication to supporting armed forces personnel, IWFM recently committed to the Armed Forces Covenant, ensuring fair treatment for active personnel, veterans, and their families. This offers exciting opportunities for IWFM to welcome current and former servicepeople into workplace and facilities management, advocate for their interests, and provide avenues for upskilling and reskilling.

We are committed to developing, supporting, and promoting our programme of activities which we are currently planning in anticipation for 2024, and we can’t wait to share details about our launch event.

We look forward to connecting with you and making a meaningful impact together.
