At IWFM, we advocate for workplace and facilities management (WFM) as a career of choice and view it as a lynchpin profession in organisations. We’re not alone; in the King’s New Year Honours 2024 list, IWFM Board member Moses Ayoola FIWFM was recognised with a British Empire Medal (BEM) for services to leadership in the NHS. With a career spanning nearly two decades, Moses is currently director of estates and facilities at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust and Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.

A people leader and passionate proponent of WFM, Moses is also a Fellow of IWFM, an IWFM board member and IWFM Assessor. This isn’t the first occasion Moses has received significant recognition; in 2021 he was named Account Manager of the Year at the IWFM Impact Awards. Speaking to Facilitate after winning the award, Moses reflected on his approach to colleagues and progress in the profession: “Regardless of position, be it domestic or porter, senior manager, or director, I give everyone equal time… I’m able to connect and understand where they’re coming from because I've been there as well.” In the same interview, Moses detailed how he started in WFM to support his higher education studies, later deciding to stay in the sector due to his “real passion” for the work.

Released on New Year’s Eve, the King's New Year's Honours List highlights and awards individuals who have made an exceptional impact in their field, positively affecting their communities and the UK overall. Honours recipients are drawn from a diverse array of backgrounds and sectors, spanning government, the arts, the third sector, sports, business and much more.
