New for 2025, IWFM’s University Accreditation Programme is a strategic initiative to formalise career pathways for workplace and facilities management (WFM) students.

This programme accredits relevant university courses, ensuring they align with IWFM Professional Standards, and allows students who have successfully completed their academic programme, and who meet experiential requirements, to graduate with Certified membership

Building a holistic route to membership

The University Accreditation Programme builds on IWFM’s commitment to offering accessible and inclusive pathways to professional recognition. In 2024, IWFM launched the Experiential Route to Certified membership, allowing experienced professionals without formal qualifications to gain certification based on their proven expertise.

Strengthening IWFM’s member offering, the University Accreditation Programme ensures that students can graduate with industry-recognised professional credentials, displaying distinction in the job market.

Benefits to universities and student employability

Accreditation provides universities with a significant competitive edge, enhancing graduate employability. Students on accredited programmes are eligible for IWFM student membership throughout their studies, giving them access to invaluable resources, professional communities and IWFM’s Future Leaders Network.

These opportunities bridge the gap between education and employment, connecting students with industry professionals and providing the tools to build successful careers. IWFM’s University Accreditation Programme benefits the profession by attracting and developing the talent it needs for the future.

Which programmes are eligible?

The IWFM University Accreditation Programme is open to universities worldwide, ensuring all students can benefit. Accreditation applies to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and IWFM recognises the diversity of delivery methods, including distance learning, face-to-face instruction, and hybrid models. This flexibility ensures that students, regardless of where or how they study, can access the same high-quality professional pathway.
