Making the Invisible, visible: how better air quality supports productivity and sustainability outcomes

Since the pandemic, indoor air quality has come to the fore of the public’s mind, yet in the hierarchy of management, it still appears to take a backseat. To examine the factors which may help or hinder the conversation around indoor air quality (IAQ), the IWFM invited leaders from the FM world to a roundtable discussion in London in May. The event was held in partnership with Dyson, the global technology company, whose engineers have been researching clean air technologies for over two decades.

In this write-up, we share some of the insights and learnings from the discussion. The conversation centred on topics regarding the positive health and productivity benefits of good internal air quality, hybridworking and how this has affected people’s views of office-working, building management systems and the virtues of monitoring that are at the heart of the drive to improve IAQ, and the future of standards, regulations, and education in this area.
