Net zero

The transition to net zero carbon presents huge challenges, not least the energy and cost-of-living crises. Released today by IWFM in partnership with Bryt Energy, our new report ‘Navigating a changing energy landscape in the transition to net zero’ provides informative and practical insights to help workplace and facilities management professionals develop a holistic plan that obtains buy-in from decision-makers in the C-suite.

IWFM research has highlighted that better data and transparency is essential to genuine progress on decarbonisation. Despite public commitments to carbon reduction, we have found that a significant proportion of organisations lack baseline data for their carbon footprint, clear objectives, and a roadmap and strategy describing how the targets will be met.

Many organisations have yet to create a ‘golden thread’ linking the Board’s aspirations to a detailed holistic plan with clear accountability, allocated budget and appropriate resource to ensure its achievement.

In this report, we share insights and a guidance checklist drawn from a roundtable discussion with leading practitioners and energy professionals. The event was held in partnership with Bryt Energy - a zero carbon, 100% renewable electricity supplier.

David Taylor, Sales and Marketing Director at Bryt Energy, commented: ‘Bryt Energy are delighted to be working with IWFM, helping to support businesses as they consider net zero in a turbulent energy market.

‘The workshop that formed this guidance piece included valuable discussion on who is responsible for making sustainable changes and it was interesting to hear attendees thoughts on the importance of a joined-up approach when considering energy strategies. We look forward to delving deeper in the upcoming webinar.’

Facilities professionals will be key agents of any joined-up approach with the Board and will be instrumental in its delivery. Download our ‘Navigating a changing energy landscape in the transition to net zero’ report today to find out how to achieve it.

IWFM and Bryt Energy will present a ‘Navigating turbulent times’ webinar on 22 February. Full details and a registration link will appear on our Events page in due course.
