Recently, IWFM’s People Development SIG and Midlands Region hosted ‘Is the Experiential Route to CIWFM right for me?’, a deep dive into IWFM’s new route to Certified membership for experienced workplace and facilities management (WFM) professionals who lack formal qualifications. You can watch the full webinar here; here are some key takeaways.
Responding to the WFM community’s needs
IWFM listened to the WFM community and acted. The new Experiential Route to CIWFM has been developed to best provide the most value to professionals from all backgrounds. Previously, many seasoned WFM professionals in strategic roles have faced barriers to gaining CIWFM post-nominals due to the lack of a Level 6 IWFM qualification, or a facilities management/facilities management-related qualification.
Rigorously tested for effectiveness
The Experiential Route has been in development for two years, including trials with government bodies to ensure its accessibility and effectiveness. The assessment process has been designed in line with IWFM’s Professional Standards to ensure alignment with the global competence model for the profession.
Access to the Strategic Leaders Forum
With Certified membership, professionals can get involved with the Strategic Leaders Forum (SLF). Drawing on the talents and experience of each member, the SLF encourages established professionals to progress even further, create new networking opportunities and positively influence IWFM and the profession. By utilising professional excellence, the SLF helps to improve standards across the board.
Keeping track of CPD
IWFM’s CPD tool, available through the members portal, allows professionals to record CPD activities throughout the year and gain a clear overview of progress and areas for future development. This is a useful tool for professionals to measure where they stand in relation to Certified membership and for Certified members looking to ascend to an even higher level.
