‘Your future is whatever you make it. So, make it a good one’. The IWFM London Region have been working hard in collaboration with some of our amazing Special Interest Groups to bring back our renowned London Region Annual Conference, however, don’t expect your usual type of conference!  We’ll be exploring what was happening in the industry 30 years ago so be prepared for some surprising revelations! Then its ‘back to the future’ to explore how FM and the workplace have developed in the past 30 years and the latest trends in 2022 and beyond.

The very talented Ian Ellison, host of Workplace Geeks, will be chairing the event so expect a fast paced, high energy and interactive day. There will be an amazing opportunity to get involved in shaping the future with a fully inclusive hackathon hosted by Perry Timms, founder, and Chief Energy Officer of PTHR and award-winning writer on the future of work.

Sarah Armstrong

Chief Security Advisor, Microsoft

Sarah Armstrong Smith is representer and hired via the Champions Speakers Agency

Operating at the forefront of the cybersecurity industry, Sarah Armstrong-Smith is the Chief Security Advisor at Microsoft. She has led a long and impactful career, guiding businesses through digital attacks and teaching organisations how to protect their data. Sebastian Bachelier

Living Wage Foundation

Sebastian joined the Living Wage Foundation in 2018 where he leads on work within the outsourcing and FM sectors. He oversees the management of the Recognised Service Provider accreditation and coordinates the Recognised Service Provider Leadership Group. Sebastian has previous experience of working for the public and private sectors through student enrichment work at an inner-city college and c-suite recruitment for the NHS.

Ian Baker

Head of Workplace Solutions, EMCOR UK

Ian is the Head of Workplace for EMCOR UK, a leading facilities management company providing a range of customer-centric solutions through workplace transformation, IFM, data-led asset management and carbon reduction.

Ian has over 25 years’ experience in the built environment and a background in design, property consulting and project management, he has led EMCOR UK’s workplace solutions since 2015.

With his passion for workplace, Ian has been instrumental in identifying innovative solutions to workplace challenges and carrying out research on post-pandemic workplaces. A fervent supporter of evidence-based decision making, shaping the ‘future of work’ by developing workplace strategies supporting organisational success alongside people and planet.

Ian is a regular speaker at workplace leadership events and is author of several white papers focussing on people engagement, human productivity and workplace experience.

In 2023 Ian was voted by peers to join the class of Workplace Leaders Top 10 and is the current chair of the IWFM Workspace SIG (Special Interest Group).

Peter Brogan

Head of Research and Insight, IWFM

Peter is Head of Research and Insight at IWFM where he manages the research, insight and information that positions IWFM as the voice of workplace and facilities management. He manages the delivery and development of the Institute’s research and insight activities.

An influential Research specialist with unique experience and a sustained record of success in both the public and private sectors. Extensive background in diverse service organisations, managing complex research projects from inception to completion.

Greg Davies

Director of Market Development, Assurity Consulting

Greg has worked for over 32 years in health, safety and environmental compliance management covering aspects including Legionella, H&S, fire, asbestos, building environment quality, energy, waste and sustainability.

A degree-qualified microbiologist and registered expert witness, he joined Assurity Consulting in 1989. Greg is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Public Health, Specialist Member of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM) and currently Chair’s both the IWFM Sustainability Special Interest Group and IIRSM London Branch committee

Greg is a regular blogger and contributor to our industry press, with over 250 articles published on environmental management/sustainability, health and safety and risk. He chaired the CIBSE committee that revised TM13, was the author of the original IWFM good practise guide to risk management and has been survey lead for the IWFM sustainability in FM survey for the last 8 years.

On subjects ranging from water management to the “Red Tape Challenge” Greg has also spoken at events for, or been involved with, organisations including Defra, PHE, IIRSM, DECC, BSC, RICS, CIEH, BSRIA, CIBSE, IWFM, IOSH, CIEH and the London Health and Safety Group

Ian Ellison

Workplace change agent, co-founder and director, 3edges

Ian co-founded 3edges.co.uk and Audiem.io to help people understand and enhance the organisational value of workplace. With over 20 years’ experience spanning workplace and facilities management practice, education and consultancy, Ian has developed a reputation as an engaging facilitator and provocative speaker. He is passionate about the power of workplace to enable better business outcomes.

Ian is also co-founder and host of the Workplace Geeks podcast, with Chris Moriarty. Especially interested in change leadership and workplace challenges within organisations, Ian has delivered diverse workplace change projects to help facilitate organisational performance improvement. He has also written numerous journal papers, insight reports, magazine articles and book chapters exploring different workplace and FM topics.

Anne Kinder

Senior Consultant, Nodus Solutions

Anne works for Nodus Solutions, an independent facilities management consultancy who provide consultancy services to clients in a range of sectors in the UK and Europe.  Clients include Jaguar Land Rover, Avis Budget Group, Prologis and several universities.

A specialist in asset, facilities, property and contract management, Anne has worked on the delivery of large, national projects that utilise her skills in strategy development, business transformation, contract specification and management, project management and Human Resources. 

Anne holds a BSc (Hons) in Statistics and is a Fellow of the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IFFM) and a member of the Chartered Institute of Housing.

Anne is Chair of the IWFM Procurement and Contract Management Special Interest Group and a Lead Judge for the IWFM Excellence Awards.
